I presume they will still cut out when the load is high. Service has been excellent since the upgrade, so don't start whining.

I never whine, goddammit, Why would you say a thing like that. I can't believe that I'm getting this thrown in my face. This is incredible. Here I go about my daily business, and then avatars are gone, and people accuse me of whining

Man...this sucks. It's amazing how rude some posters can be. I am getting sick and tired of Apolyton. This is simply too much.....

But serously, service has been great. Which is why I was wondering.

small works are still being done , .......

they have only been off line a couple times since the upgrade , and even then for short periods , .......

Well I assume the automatic trigger for disabling avatar is still there.

Unless I see a post or annoucement by DanQ or MarkG I assume that it was the auto trigger that disabled them. It is set lower than before to prevent crashes.

Correct. This is done automatically; avatars are restored when the load lessens sufficiently.

Any chance you could clarify what a high load is. Or is it something that wouldn't mean anything to the normal poster?

The latter. Further to this end, I can say that it is not a pre-set number dictating maximum simultaneous connections -- in other words, how many requests to have data sent/retrieved from the server at any given moment.

Question for Mods: How is that "Emperor Fabulous", a warlord w/142 post count has an avatar? Is he a special case or have the rules regarding avatars changed?

Just a guess but it was also possible for people to qualify through time. That is not the case now, but existing custom avatars when the rule was changed are still in place.
