If that's the only flaw... we accomplished our mission.

We wanted you guys to have a blast, and I thought we provided it. We were working on the details weeks before you guys showed. And a good time was had by all... at least I had a great time

I've enjoyed EVERY meeting with people from Poly. It must be a great community for that to be the case. I feel that being a good host is my duty... and I've yet to run into a case where it wasn't worth it. From Xin Yu to War4ever... everybody has been worth any effort that I have put out. You got to love it.

Many moons ago, before my wife got active in forums... she though I was crazy to meet total strangers and invite them to our house. But now, she is a member of an online community, and actually considered flying to New Jersey for forum meeting.

I was shocked that she put up with Berz and War for the long time they were here. I thought I was going to pay dearly for it... but War charmed her, and I never heard one negative word for our multiple days of pure partying.

You got to love it.

You should try explaining to people that you are flying interstate for a dinner with people you have met over the internet.

When we first started meeting people for drinks or dinner from here, I spent a lot of time explaining to my wife why. It's now happened so many times that she doesn't question it. She figures we're having so much fun, it can't be a bad thing. I have had zero bad experiences with it, and the last one was a riot. (even with running over War's foot) Of course there are a few people in the OT that I might want to run over more than just there foot.

NO

But we have had plenty of OTers over at Ming's or met them for drinks in local bars and have always had a great time.

I doubt it you'll ever have bead experiences with people comming over you played with for a couple of years.

When Jakcksmak (zonebuddy of mine) came over to Holland a couple of weeks ago I admit I was a bit nervous picking him up from the airport.
But after 2 min it was just old mates talking and it turned out a great week

We're now planning a civmeet in Omaha Nabraska in the near future with other people from zone

I've met tons of people of Apolyton now... and never regreted any of the meetings. It's a win win situation as far as I'm concerned.

I doubt I'd be enthusiastic about meeting someone that I just met on the net. But you're right, after knowing them online for a few years, there really is no risk.

It is certainly losing the stigma attached to it these days. I mean, even 4 years ago anyone meeting someone they met on the internet would often be considered sad and desperate. Nowadays it's so common the stigma is gone.

I still wouldn't try to meet women on the net. That still would scare me.

RAH
Since I'm married it's not an issues, but it would still be scary.

I agree..........too scary. But a few years back even meeting online friends was viewed with disdain. Funny how social mores change so quickly.

Yeah, but with meeting friends, what they look like is really unimportant.

What are you talking about Hydey. Finbar sure, he and Mrs finbar are great hosts, but are you telling me you liked sleeping in my garden shed when it was minus 6?

Hydey resting between jobs with too much time on his hands. What a terrifying combination of factors.
