I want a retro video game console.
. . . specifically, the Super NES.

And if I can find some place where I can purchase such a console -- one that WORKS -- these are the games I would re-purchase:

Liberty or Death

Ogre Battle

Romance of the Three Kingdoms -- IV??

Final Fantasy III

Rise of the Phoenix

And probably a couple of others that I have forgotten right now.

Now, where to find these . . . I don't want to get ripped off from someone on E-Bay selling a broken Super NES that has been used as a book end.

Geez -- am I the only one who has faith in one type of retro game console or another?

I have had a SNES since 1992 and it still works like a charm. But my copy of FF3 was stolen 4 years ago.

Good luck finding the system , I have been looking for a new copy of FF3, to no avail.

Liberty or Death is one of the better stratagy games I've played on a console. Civ on the SNES SUCKS. Another good classic is Legend of Zelda 3: a Link to the Past.

My dad has a old NES and it still works! I like to play Final Fantasy, Ultima 4, Mario 3, and Tetris on it.

I still have my SNES and copy of FF3 (and 2, and even MQ for that matter)....but unfortunately it's gathered too much dust over the years...I'm afraid the system probably doesn't work properly. Still, I already have decided to hang onto the games until they gain some more market value.

(The Japanese FFIII was never even translated to English iirc, and was a NES game, so I assume you're using the godless American numbers)

Surely you mean 11, 10, 9 and 8? If you included 7 in those four games (as I first thought), this has the makings of an all-out flame war.

I just love the concept of Espers as a race in Final Fantasy III.

And yes -- I'm using the ungodly American numbers with the title.

Have you looked around on Ebay? I know you don't trust it too much but if you can find someone with a high sell count you'd have a good chance to get a good machine because they won't want to botch their rating. My friends and I have bought a couple of gaming consoles online and haven't had any problems.

I have a fairly nice collection of old consoles (Atari 5200, NES, TurboGraphics16, PS1, PS2, and xbox). I didn't play the SNES too much but thought about trying to pick one up for the Zelda game with the chickens and Killer Instinct.

Retro gaming

I still own my old Mega Drive (Genesis to you infidels across the Atlantic) and I do like a quick game on Streets of Rage or one of the Strike games occasionally. I also have a Mega CD that I bought off a cash-strapped mate for £5 about month after he'd paid £15 for it.

But I'm scared of Ebay.

If there's a Funcoland nearby, I understand they sell old used games. My knowledge of this is "second hand" however, having never gone there myself.

But good taste in gaming choices. I rememebr the old Koei strategy games to keep me going after they stopped releasing new things for my Amiga 500... such a shame that it's IMPOSSIBLE for the British to win Liberty or Death. Although ironically enough, it's easier on Hard.

If I can find one in town do you want it? We have Gamespots and Babbages that sell older consoles used.

Harry and SnowFire, now that you suggested such places, I do remember a place in my town called Video Games Etc.

I can try there.

PM me if you want me to hunt one down here in Birmingham. I'd go ahead with it but don't want to be stuck with one if you decide you don't want it.

Get a Gameboy player for the gamecube. Has many of the old games, works quite nicely on a real tv. lots of fun.
