Slow animation
I looked on the "Slow Scroll" thread but couldn't find a suggestion that worked. I have the latest Detonators installed and have tried previous versions as well.

The problem is that the unit movement is very slow. I turned off the animation options but whenever a new city is built, the Settler sets down his bag etc in slow motion and it is driving me crazy to not play this game the way I used to.

Is there anything else I can try?

My specs are -
Athlon XP 1400 (or is 1600...)
GeForce2mx
128mb
WinXP
Latest patch/full install

Close background programs. Make sure that in your control panel memory ussage is optimized for running programs rather than background applications. Hit control alt delete and select Civilization 3 by right clicking, myabe setting the priority level higher would help?

Unless you're playing a huge map with loads of civ's (ie a lot of cities) this shoulsn't happen. However, add some RAM and things should be smoother..

Try updating your sound drivers. I know it sounds crazy, but I had this exact issue a while back. I updated my sound drivers for an unrelated issue and the next time I fired up Civ3 this problem was solved.

How mush free hd space do you have? (Make sure to haver at least 256 MB free while playing, it might help. Also there might be wise to defrag your hd if you've had it for long, and kept installing/uninstalling stuff to it (at least do an analysis))
