If second edition classes will be allowed in-game, I'm game...I'd hate to go out and acquire a whole new set of books tho...

I would play

I am playing Palladium 2nd eiditoin about twice a week right now (I am the current GM)

I agree that it is mostly good for an excuse to get together with freinds and have a good time

I spend lots of time on apolyton, I would be willing to take part in this (I would prefer 3rd edition, it is the only one I am familiar with although I have almost all books downloaded (Edonkey is a wonderful thingh))

(Though if you end up taking too many classes there's some exp penalties for having vastly different levels in your classes, and some classes (like paladin) don't allow you to both take a level in another class and continue gaining levels in that class. (Lawful Good characters retain their paladin powers, but can't ever gain another level of paladin if they decide to take a level of something else after becomming a paladin. And yes it is possible to be a paladin/rogue, though I can't really imagine how you would roleplay that.)
in some settings (forgotten realms?) certain subclasses of monks and paladins can multiclass out and back in (like a Paladin of Ilamatir could take a level of cleric of Ilamatir and than take another level of paladin)

I would suggest a DM/GM who knows the system well and is on apolyton all the time

I would suggest that everyone be in one party (at a single instant it is unlikely that any more than a couple people will be online)

I would suggest that there be enchanted bags of player holding which is where all players who are not here go

I would suggest starting at 1st level

As long as we have a good GM/DM it should be fun

I agree with JM. Unless there are a lot of people who want to play, one party should be enough.

IS THERE ANYONE WILLING TO STEP FORWARD AS DM?

I'm not on all the time, and my 3rd edition collection is not nearly large enough to cover everything that I would need to be a GM.

if oyu make up your setting than you really only need 1 book (or no books, if I started a RPG with myself as GM I would use no books and make up the system), now having less books can make it a liitle harder

if you are usiog a setting, than it is nice to have the books for it

Now that the idea has been tested, should I start a new thread for co-ordinating the game? (i.e. electing a gm, deciding on rules, mechanics, etc.)

And should I get started on that script?

Jon Miller: Yeah, but the thing is I wouldn't want to keep ppl from taking the prestige classes they want all because I have no idea of their capabilities, and I would want to know their capabilities before I permitted such...

Besides that, you are right. Still, the not being on here all the time, and having to yield to my wife when she requires my, uh, attention would still get in the way. yet, I really like to play as well as DM... I would rather prefer someone else to do it, as I do tend to get carried away with it.

I personally didn't like what they did with 2nd edition AD&D (don't ask for specifics, I don't remember most of them, though I hated what happened to rangers, and I thought the concept of immortal elves that nevertheless had to leave anyway was silly), so I stuck with 1st edition.

More recently, my brother got me the 3rd edition PH and DMG, and liked much of what I saw. Not enough to actually play 3rd edition, mind you, but enough to work of a 1st - 3rd edition hybrid (keeping 1st editon tables and spells, adding in 3rd edition stats, skills, and feats, and figuring out an OA - style partial armor table).

I've thought about how the dice rolling could be done
It would be a web script (on a seperate page), where you'd select the number of dice and how many sides they have. You'd allso enter a name for the roll, like "sight check outside Kalpatron Palace". The program would generate the numbers and store them in a text file. That way there would be no questions as to the validity of four 6's in a row .
my friends and i are pretty regualr pen and paper players, and we have all the video games (Baldur's gate series, Neverwinter nights, etc).

Ive actually thought of this idea, but lacked the initiative to go forward with it. i would love to participate, if it gets going tho

-Added new players
-Atawa and Lonestar: current canidates for GM.
-Point system.

We can have the chats @ rinkchat.rinkworks.com- a cool place, dice rolls built in. Otherwise, I was hoping to keep it in-house (if allowed). Is it feasable to do it in the stories and diplomacy forum?

i would prefer DM rols for stats over point system... i dont like the point system because everyone is at the same level... i like the realism of the inequality of abilities of characters.

I'll pm Ming and start a new co-ordination thread tommorow morning. It's great to see all this interest!

There will eventually be voting on edition, GM(?), char generation, and any other issues that come up.

Good point, but if you allow point swapping between stats that inequality will arise. Also, one could allow for the players to buy points with their initial cps...
