Non-evolution mod poll - NO SCIENCE/RELIGION DISCUSSING, ONLY COMMENTS ABOUT MOD
I'm taking a huge risk posting this, but I wanna see if there's a demand for a non-evolution (ie creationist) mod.

I DO NOT want discussion about the creation/evolution issue! It's only a game, remember! It does not have to be realistic!

For those who want it - what should the "theory of evolution" wonder be replaced with?

My ideas -
"The Enlightenment" - although there's a little contreversy about it, it's a period of great change.

"Electrification" - in other words, it represents everybody getting electricity in their homes.

Any others?

Only discussion about the mod please, not about science/religion! Moderators, please delete off-topic posts!

Yeah, not much feedback. 1 for, 1 against, 4 other religion. I was sorta expecing more, but I guess this means there's not much demand.

I've got a mod on my computer, but it's ad-hoc and largely unfinished. It's still got the origional TOE graphics, and no description.

I won't put any more effort into it then, I guess. I can live with what I have now.

What kind of mod are we talking about?
Any changes or are you just wanting to change the Theory of Evolution wonder to something else? If so, that little change doesn't really justify a mod. That is more of a personal change to your local game.

Well, I also changed some other stuff, like the "age" of the world would be "roughness", and I had plans doing a more complete check of the civilopedia entries. It doesn't matter now, since I'm not doing it.

The wonder is called Theory of Evolution. No-one can deny that said theory has had alot of impact. I don't see anyone removing Sun Tzu's because they disagree with his military tactics, or want Newton's removed because they seen his work of gravity as superceded.

I didn't start this thread to debate the topic - yes, I am aware of the theory's impact - I see it on my TV all the time. This isn't about them removing anything anyway - I would be making the mod.

If they want to put it in, fine. It's their game. If I want to remove it, fine, it's my mod .

You know, this really isn't all that controversial.

I suggest you make the mod and then post it in this forum. If people want it they will download it.

Sheik: I've got two suggestions to replace the wonder with - which one would you like? Or do you have something else to replace it with?

Turk Man: Huh? First you say do not do it, now you agree? Did you change your mind, or am I missing something?

BTW, even if I do do this, it may take a while for me to create and finish the mod; I'm working on other projects right now, and need to finish them first.

I like the enlightenment idea. Though maube you should choose one characteristic of the enlightenment as the wonder. Like reasoned thought or something. I also think reading and the publication of books flourished in this period in certain countries, so maybe something like that.

I love the idea of losing the evolutionist preaching!

for a wonder, how about Protestant Reformation? Also falls in the category of don't have to agree with it but very influential.

Or, Sherman Anti-trust Act.

Maybe the Transcontinental Telegraph?

I think the 'technology boost' wonder comes nicely with the scientific method tech. Enlightenment brought many ideas and innovations, but the real scientific revolutions could be seen as being writing, invention, and then scientific method.

Enlightenment was much about bringing new ideas, especially philosophical ideas to the world. Scientific method was about codifying and giving efficient processes to scientific research, so that it becomes much more efficient.

Despite being an evolutionist, I actually don't think the Theory of Evolution is the best possible thing to represent a scientific boost. There must be scientific theories following the scientific method around there, which have been more influencial in the technology scene than Darwin's.

Maybe Einstein's Theory of Relativity could replace Evolution. It had a major influence on modern physics, is very famous as well, and I don't think it is controversial anywhere. It sure arrived much later than the time scientific method was designed, but who cares ? After all, wonders do take time to build

Alright, looks like there's some demand after all - including an evolutionist!

As soon as I get some spare time, I'll try to make the mod.

I'll try to find something good to represent an technologocal boost.
