Solution for crashing in Win98
Before, RoN would load but as soon as I tried to play a game, it would crash to the desktop. Now I can actually play, and just finished a game.

Go to start menu -> Run
Type sysedit

Once the "System Configuration Editor" is loaded, choose the System.ini tab (in picture below).
Find the section that labelled [vcache]. This will most likely be empty. Just cut and past the lines below in.
Code:
[vcache]
minfilecache=65536
maxfilecache=65536
chunksize=2048
namecache=4096
directorycache=96
After these lines have been added to the file, select file -> save.
After resetting, RoN problems will hopefully be solved.

If this helps you, please let me know.

Although im running XP, i thought i would give this a go, and i think it worked, played for more than an hour (without crashing), and kicked ass!
Cheers for the suggestion

What is your system setup? Could you disable the onboard video (the 810) and add an inexpensive 32 MB PCI video card? (I'm assuming your system is similar to others with the Intel 82810E Graphics Controller/Memory Hub dealie.)

Yah, those intel on board vid cards simply don't have the juice to run RoN, specifically they don't have the 16mb of vid ram required.

I do have a question for you win98 users though.. If your system specs are good enough to run RoN, why in the hell are you using Win98? if you can run RoN, you sure as hell can run XP..Why not upgrade? Or at least to 2000..

Cause microsoft charges ungodly prices for the OS. If 98 works for them, no real reason to upgrade.

True, or nothing at all, if you get it in the right place hehe.

Their OS is used on virutally every single computer in the world bar the occasional apple and linux ones (which probably make up less than 10% of the market).

You think they could sell the OS at $50 and still make a profit. I mean god, game componies put out games apoximatly as often as Microsoft puts out an OS.
