If he likes RTS games, I personally can't see a reason not to.

then i think it will be a game your son enjoys...
it is also a deeper game then AOE 1 and 2. but or maybe because of that i think it should be appropriate for kids
as far as waiting for it ro be cheaper. that depends on what your priority is..games well its not like u need to have the latest thing to enjoy it, as soon as its released. its whether or not u want to play it as soon as u can get your hands on it or something that just enjoy when u have extra cash.

If he can handle AOE1 and 2, then he should be able to handle RoN. You only need to know the basics to have fun with the game.

It's by no means violent...
No blood and gore but unit do "die" but then they just fall over and act like they are laying down and fade.
My brother plays it and he's only 12, he's fine.
Other children around my home have played it, ranging from 7up. No problems.

P4 1.5Ghz, 256 MB ram, 60 GB Hard drive, 64 MB video card.
I guess that should run the game OK

That's what I thought, and my specs are a bit better than yours in the processer and ram area. What video card do you have, that seems to be the most important part.

There are two exceptions to this "not really violent" rule...
Kill a few things with Chinese Fire Lances or Flamethrowers, and you get treated to units running around on fire a little before falling down and burning to ashes.
But other than that, yeah, it's not really bad at all. I think even that by itself really isn't bad, but I think it's just because I'm so used to videogame violence :P
I'd think it's a great game for anyone who likes RTSes or Civilization and has the system specs to have a pleasant game.
