A few map options would be nice
Could they just add a few random map options to C3C? I think it'd be nice to have 90% ocean, or even better, an arbitrary amount (just type it in). Also, specifying the mininum distance between continents would be nice. It could also be useful to be able to say specifically "I want a lot of X terrain tiles".

Wouldnt the one balanced continent per player reduce the strategic importance to the game of strategic resources ?

It can be quite annoying not to get any coal etc in your empire but part of the fun is aqquiring what you need through trade, diplomacy or conquest.

Yes it would be good for MP games so you know that every player is sure to get a decent start position.

It does seem like a good idea for tournament play.

Um...do we have tournaments?

No, unless you count the MP democracy games, but if we had properly balanced maps we might start.

There are a couple of MP Ladder sites out there, but Apolyton doesn't host anything of that sort.

They are including a random size option, right? I wonder if it will be easy to tell what size map you have in the beggining by looking at the mini-map or if things will get scaled in different ways, so that the player can't tell the size right off. Also not knowing what size you will be playing may change the way you choose a civ.

Yeah, easy to see tiny and small, but the others, not sure.

A reversion to more conservative civ choices, ie egypt.

Actually, they could have it so the minimap gets bigger as you explore, and you can't scroll out of site of visible tiles.

Something I'd like to see is a "world map" screen à la Civ1, where you see the whole map of the world in full screen. This way, there is an intermediate between the minimap and the main view.

However it's not a very useful feature, so I understand why it has been left out since Civ2

YES! That would be perfectly historically correct, too...

How '"huge"? I'd be happy with a few more steps higher and lower.
