UPDATE:

Major new version of Vendetta is now ready for download on page one!

I suggest that you delete all old files from your 'Vendetta' folder (except the sound folder!) and copy these new files in!

Your scenario experience is bound to be different this time round.

Please have a go, then drop a comment and tell me what you think!

Nope.

They get it after a few turns.

When the Scenario starts, a revolution and anarchistic situation is underway if South Africa...
You must ride it out and hold tight till you get theocracy.

Then life is easy...!

(until the UFA attacks!)

I played as the PAC in my recent game, suddenly I ended up under attack by the UFA.

In thier characteristic style, they mercilessly pounded me with their evil Strato bombers!

A turn or two later, I got the tech 'strike fighters', and the rather cool Ghost fighter.

I was rushing Ghost units to the west of Africa, when I accidently hit and sunk a carrier, loaded with 22 Stratobombers!

Ouchy!

After a turn or two, the UFA offered peace for 100 gold!

Vive la revolution!

Oops!

The Reich should have 'Main Battle Tanks I', to begin with...My mistake.

That is now fixed!

The rivals begin with one basic aircraft,
Now you must research to get the other fighters.

These are peace accords in place to stop 1st turn treachery attacks...

But if it is making things too easy, I can null some of those treaties...

Curt, did you mean to leave out the nukes? I thought the whole point of the .scn was to start throwing nukes at each other..

The nuke thing was a tough choice...

I liked the idea of the evil UFA and the more evil Reich blowing each other to heck,
but it is a bit unfair on the minor civs who have to struggle with global warming, after all that hard work to build themselves up.

I guess we can assume there is a nuke treaty in place until the major ICMBs are discovered, then the new arms race begins...

If enough people want it, I can bring back the nukes...

What do y'all think?

Aha!

All it takes is the removal of the land square at 73,65.

I'll add that for the next zip...

Well spotted, RM!

While you're sorting out minor bugs Curt, some of the diplomatic messages need to be changed to reflect the changes you made in the latest version. For example, when an alliance is broken the old message that says you're being attacked comes up, but this is no longer necessarily true.

Aside from that, I think you've got the definitive version of this scenario here! It's a huge improvement on the previous ones, as it includes far more empire-building options for those of us who like to bide their time, letting their opponents exhaust each other fighting it out before entering the fray with overwhelming strength.

In my current game as the UFA, I've played as far as June 1985. An unholy alliance of the Red Empire and the Eternal Reich (I love that name, BTW. Not that I'm a fan of the Nazis, but the name just sounds cool) have carved up the Pacific Alliance. The Reich is also half-heartedly battling the Pan-African Coalition, who have pushed all the way north to Lagos in the west and Khartoum in the east. The Australians, after a few limited conquests, seem to have given up on war althogether and are steadily building up their industrial base, as well as building a number of great railways across Australia.

Meanwhile, I sit on the sidelines, staying out of the conflict that's consuming the globe. I've made a few conquests in South America and west Africa, as well as Greenland and Iceland, but for the most part I'm waiting for the right moment to strike. The Reich don't seem to have realised that I've got Stratofortresses sitting on the tarmac in Ireland, and when they do, it'll be all to late.

The idiotic UFA just started putting troops on my soil--IN PEACETIME!

I was mucho pissed, so now we're fighting...I've put a bunch of Reichswehr and Sturmwehr in Canada to give those american bastards hell and let me build up some more army...

btw, Curt, you may want to make a diplomatic unit that can make uprisings...I know space is limited, though.

Wow!

Nice war stories!

@Paul:
I will change those messages to something more fitting!
Sounds like you are having a good game...

@Art of War:
I could give the scenario a diplo unit now, as tech stealing is no longer an bad option...

But what unit to replace...?
Loyalty troops and Order Police seem logical for replacement...

Perhaps an agent and a new unit for one of the minor empires...

What do y'all think?

@Arthedain:

Maybe...What is the opinion of those who have played thus far?

Would you want access to some 'deterrent' nukes from turn one?

If you'd like, Curt, I could hex edit it to stop the global warming.

I've been doing that in my games during the nuclear wars that UFA and Eternal Reich have been having.

Sure. All I have to do is change one byte in the file, and there will be no global warming, ever.

But, the global warming messages (the warning and the message informing you that global warming has occured) still appear and the global warming sun icon (which you replaced with the red/green bars) still appears. I don't know if you'd want to remove the bars and put in a different message, maybe something like "Barbeque held in capitol; surplus potato salad auctioned off in city square." Just something humorous to lighten the atmosphere and keep players with a sense of humor.
