2. Is the primary purpose of clothing aesthetic? NO. (functional)
3. Does life end at death? (no afterlife) YES.
4. Are salary raises preferable to more vacation? NO.
5. Is a new thing inherently better than an identical old one? NO.
20

Social materialism:
6. Does economic progress lead to social progress? YES.
7. Should the needs of other life be subservient to human needs? YES.
8. Should Church and State be seperate? YES.
9. Should humans settle the oceans and outer space? YES. (oceans i could care less about)
10. Would you prefer an engineer over an architect to plan a city? YES.

And one unscored question:
How has CIV influenced your attitudes on the above issues?
not much, i don't think so anyway. i think my beliefs have influenced my civ style, but even that isn't so true. i poprush because i can expend people, not because i am morally aligned with killing off the civilians of my empire.

Tabulated results. Very interesting. While the range of materialism ran much of the spectrum, not one person of exactly 30 was valued personal materialism more than social materialism.

Yes people, the results are up... can anyone offer any explanation for the concentration of all of Apolyton's responses on the right side of the grid?

Well, we don't really have that many valley girls, record company executives, and Fox News spin neurosurgeons posting here.

4. Are salary raises preferable to more vacation?

Wouldn't saying "no" automatically make you a social materialist? Bingo.
