why cant i build ascent to transcendence?

Ok ive researched the tech - built the voice of planet = gotten two book of planet interludes

I still dont see Ascent to Transcendence SP on my bui;d menus. Now i feel like im playing a puzzle game. I tried building a temple of planet first, but that didnt help. I thought maybe i didnt have slots on the menu, so i obsoleted some unit types. I waited another turn. Is there some puzzle like condition im not meeting? Do i need to raise my planet rating, or give away my funds, or something else? Do i just need to wait more turns?

Do you have Higher Goal: Allow Victory by Transcendence checked on the Customize Games Rules Menu?

Perhaps the problem is caused by not having it checked. This is the first thing that comes to mind. Perhaps some of the experts can further assist you if this is not the solution. I do not know if you are prohibited from building Ascent to Transcendence if the box is not checked.

If you don't have that victory condition checked*, then you can't Ascend. Are you perhaps playing as the Caretakers?- they can't win by transcendence either.

Apart from those 2 reasons, there's nothing that should prevent you from building it - it should appear as a Secret Project choice for you (indeed, once you have built the Voice, all factions can build the Ascent - check the F5 box to see if anyone else is).

* to check, hit ctl and k simultaneously, (opens the scenario editor) then the left-hand "menu" tab, then "scenario", then "edit custom rules" - that'll show whether you have that victory condition activated

yup, that was it.

I played out the last turn as a scenario. Won in 2370.
Nice final movie, and interlude.

First win by transcendence, and first win on thinker level.

Now on to transcend level.
