Improved USA 2010; is it worth it?
I`ve been thinking of doing an upgrade for Jeff Head`s USA 2010 scenario that came with FW. What I`m wondering is; is it worth the bother? And if so, what should I change about it? So far, I`ve done this to my version:

-Changed the terrain graphics for Ocean, Grassland and Plains back to their Civ2 originals (the ones included with the scenario were too bright IMHO). I`ve changed the mountain graphics to the pretty ones (don`t know where they came from).

-Changed the national flags to their proper ones (India previously flew a Chinese flag, Turkey a Norwegian one, Iraq a Japanese one and Mexico a French one). Russia`s flag has been changed to it`s current one, rather than the Soviet one it previously flew.

-I want to include the building of spaceships in the scenario, but spaceships have been disabled. Does anyone know how to change this (perhaps by editing hex files).

Any other suggestions?

BTW-Does anyone know what Jeff`s doing nowadays?

I thought Jeff got a new name like Michael Neilson, don't know for sure though. What scenario is this anyway? Before the era of events?

It came with FW, as one of the Best of the Net 2 scenarios. It did have events, but not many. That`s an idea for improvement.

I`m surprised you haven`t heard of it.

Hmmm...an excellent choice.

I recommend that you do not obtain hover tanks until later on. It is now 2000, and we now know that we most-likely won't even have hover cars by the time.

Also, maybe a few technologies changed...

An art improvement only on SOME of the art. The hovertank is beautiful, but I don't know about the huge trooper guy (haven't played this scenario in ages).

Good luck!

Thanks for the support!

I chose this scenario because it is one of my all time favourites, but had a few flaws, mostly due to its age. I hope to iron them out and improve it, hopefully.

What I`m not going to do is change any of the original art. Jeff really could draw well, so I`m only adding units (such as the "Nemesis", a nuke-type weapon, since it had no such things). I`ve used the extra tech-slots availiable in FW to add some new techs, such as Solid Electricity (which allows production of Electro-Balls, a powerful missile unit, and First Contact, which allows production of aliens!).

There`s also going to be more events (I`m toying with the idea of an alien invasion late in the game).
