Nemo, New idea for RF events!
Captain,

I don't build scenarios, so forgive this question if it is rediculous...
Do events need to be triggered by captures of cities? If not, then you could have one of those if/then clauses regarding particular map squares.

*showing ignorance*
If "Germans" in square 97,83= then:

You know, like to add a bit of extra cool stuff, for say when the Germans approach certain geographical areas of importance. This river, that marsh, this or that valley etc.
You may not have room for extra events as there are many included already. But could your new ideas with that hex or whatever buisness perhaps make infinate events possible?
This idea could just envelop the player in the feel of the game. It could also serve to push the player farther into following historical campaigns.
Any thoughts?

Unfortunately it's not possible with FW or MPG. With ToT it would be very possible...

In FW (and MPG) events can be triggered only by city captures, killed units, discovered techs, turns number and randomly... I would have to reserve a special unit, call it "a ghost" and place that unit on the map near the next spot I expect the Germans to reach. When killed the unit triggers a "text event" that gives some background on what just occured. Exactly like the Soviet General in Brest-Litovsk at the beginning of the game. After getting the message the game would prompt the player to load the next event file which would place the unit in a new spot and await the next time the Germans kill it, with a new text... Complex but it could work.

But I am seriously thinking of making the next version for ToT... How many of you, Red Front fans have ToT? Who is for ToT, who is for FW? I am only interested in doing what YOU want... tell me!

TOT unit status bars are dumb. It will ruin your art design.

Yes, the only disadvantage to ToT is that the Status bars are dumb.

The shields aren't big enough on ToT to place icons in, and when the unit flips direction, so would that Icon

But Redfront and ToT would be a great Combo

You still could have shields, just they'd be modified a bit like in the ToT version of Techumseh's Congo!

But the idea of having the player load events for capturing cities is a fun idea.

Ex.- Like in Red Front, if Stalingrad is recaptured by the Russians , you could have the player load other events to represent the subsequent Soviet counter-offensive to happen earlier.

I'm sort of giving an example, but if you really think, I'm sure there are some pretty intriguing possibilities...

Well I only have MPG edition. Of course I would therefor vote for that. Is ToT that much better for playing stuff other than Nemo's scenarios? I wouldn't purchase it unless it was significantly better... how will this vote turn out?
