well maybe I'm thinking 3.3 meters per yard. I cannot be asked to remember every metric/standard conversion now

You know what? We don't have 3.8 liter milk cartons, only 1 and 1.5. And even those are huge! Well, big enough. No wonder every american comedy has a spoiled milk can in a fridge...

1 yard is about equal to 1 metre.

and Diss, you wouldn't go to 3.3 litre bottles, you'd go to 1 litre ones that are cheaper

do you guys think we use fractional figures for temperature and volume just based on round imperial figures?

The max milk "bottles" we use are 2 liters, I've never seen 1.5 liter...

Rather 3.3 feet for a meter.

And you could make 3 or 4 liters milk packs, if you really drink that much or enjoy letting it rot in your fridge.

The supermarket I work at sells milk in 1, 2 and 3 liter bottles. Despite common (American) belief though, using a metric system does not necessitate every bottle being a multiple of 1 liter. We also sell alcoholic beverages in 250, 375, 750 mL bottles.

you know, there's something to be said for the metric system.

i'd rather have a liter than a pint.

pico = 10^-12

femto = 10^-15

Not sure about higher than that. Femtometres and femtoseconds are as small as you get in physics so far.

More like 3.3 feet per metre.

Metres and yards are within 10-15%

That's the least multiplier my books provide. Other sources (like this) cover a range from 10^24 to 10^-24, but I'm not sure if these still make sense.

Nobody would order 500 ml beer here. "A Moss" is a liter, and "A Holbe" is half a liter. But that is Bavaria.

True, but 500ml is 7 syllables here and A Holbe only 3.

If "half liter" had some independent universal name (as opposed to a local bavarian beer measurement) then I would use it. The point remains, people buying pints get less that people getting half-liters....

So how many Moss (it is Mossen pl?) does the average bavarian drink in a day?

Yes. One "Moss". Many "Moss'n". As for the amount... well that depends. I'm not much a drinker, I drink a Moss per hour. So if I'm out from 8-11pm, it's three Moss'n, usually. But that's me, and I am not a native here. There are of course "combat drinkers" who drink much more.

Hmm, the most beer I have drunk ever were about 8 12 ounce bottles..that's about a Moss and a Holbe in approx. 2.5 hours. Hmm, a light drinker.

Damn! You see, this is the problem with Standard.. specially using ounces for both volume and weight! Its 8 ounces to a cup, not 16! (that's weight)..revise my figures up.. that was a little less than 3 Moss'n.

The most I've had was around 20 330ml bottles of Carlsberg Export (5%), though I lost count after around 13 so had to ask the barmaid the day after.

Around 6 Mossn and a Holbe..

Umm, weren't 12 ounces about 1/3 liters (even slighly more)? In this case it would be more than 2.5 Moss'n, in about my "speed limit".
