Richard Park was born in South Korea. He's the only one born outside North America, I think.

The Kariya's (Paul and Steve) and David Tanabe would qualify if birthplace doesn't matter.

If not, there's always Jim Paek. He's retired, though...
Cinch is the trivia king on this one. Paek was the first Asian player in the NHL. (I was trying to think of his name after St. S's comment, couldn't remember it until cinch mentioned it).

I think Paek is also the first to be on a championship team. Didn't he play for the penguins.

As fo BC lineage, my grandmother was born in a place called Port Hammond outside of Vancouver back in 1892. My Dad was born in Vancouver in 1917. I lived in Penticton in the mid-90s.

And this year, I decided to become a Canucks fan, or at least until the Leafs get ship Quinn back west.

Benchriders - has everyone given up?
I assume everyone has lost interest? I can't otherwise understand why people are leaving players on the bench when their teams are playing, and they have open slots to put them in.

No, I would leave players on the bench for tough games, and play them for the easy games.

I most definitely have not given up despite being 7th.

One idea is that they want their players to ride out the hard games, and play out the easy ones. In leaving blank slots, they have many players with hard games, and they would want to play the excess later.

Are we allowed to do this?

Well it sure seems as if a few players are not active, but for the active ones we definitely have to take in to account the games per position limit. I pulled 1 D player just because he sucked until I could replace him then at least when I use a D game I get some points rather than wasting it. Of course this is all null and mute since my team is on a big downward spiral anyway

I've made some terrible management decisions.

I dump Biron, the week BEFORE he gets defensive player of the Week.

Oh, well. Now I just need to dump Nabokov, no wins in 6 games.

Even Giguere will be better.

Naw, it is just that I don't check it every day... so sometimes I miss things that way .

(but at least I'm 3rd... yay Brodeur! )

Glad to see I misinterpreted.

I do know what you mean by sitting guys for tough games...I suppose this pool is a little different than my other ones in this regard. This one is not very deep, so we don't have to worry as much about being able to pick up decent players to use up our games.

In another pool I'm in, there are no starting goalies or regular backups available - you just don't have the luxury of not using a goalie for every game you can.

The depth here also means we're unlikely to see many player-trades.

Anyways - I'm having fun at the top!
C'mon - let's see who can catch me!

I'm way over my game limits, so I needed to bench some positions. And yesterday I thought, St. Louis against Detroit would be a close low scoring game so I benched Weight. Then the bugger goes and scores three goals, including the game winner.

Yeah, I just picked up Weekes and Cujo. In any other league I'd be happy with just one.

I know what you mean. Despite being on top, Kolzig is dragging my goalie stats down single-handedly. He's gone - Biron seems to be doing okay now.
