Still can't see it. Can you explain to us what the editor does? I may want to use it.

Please try the link again. I can't explain why the embedded code doesn't work.

Yeah, it works now, and this looks like a very useful tool!!! Seems that I have to get my ToT copy back...

Can you say something more about this editor? When will it be finished? And can we also change the special unit flags from ToT in an easy way?

The first release will do units (including bitmap images AND sounds) and techs and improvements, all the basic stuff to do a scenario, including easy peasy editing of the Civilopedia (actually this bit might get cut for the first release but it is planned).

Events will not be in the first release, but I will make a second which will edit events AND...
... AUTOMATED HEX EDITING !!!!

The misceallaneous (sp?) text files will also be editable, but might not be in the first release.

First release in late October/early November, this is due to my project deadline looming on the horizon which I absolutely must do some work for!

Yes. You will be able to edit all special flags, including the new ToT ones (thats what the 3rd tab page is for, on the screenshot)

Good work, miner! It's another argument to use ToT for new scenarios! I always wondered why there are relatively few ToT scenarios, I assume the reason was the lack of any good editing tools.

BTW, speaking of ToT, what is the exact size allowed for events.txt?
Have you considered adding an events handler tool in the next version? Or what are your plans? I'm looking forward to the first release...

I am not sure exactly, but if you put @DEBUG in the events, when you load a scenario ToT produces a report.txt file, which at the end shows how much space is left. I have a small (3 event) file which @DEBUG tells me there is 105599 bytes left. I suspect therefore that the max space is about 110000 bytes

Events editing will not be in the first release but will be in the second.

Hmmm, interesting. If you found any interesting stuff about Hex Editing for ToT, could you perhaps share it with us??

I am sorry, I don't know how to make a map editor.

I have discovered nothing extra about hex editing ToT. I am hoping that the stuff discovered for FW stands for ToT. Nearer the time I will ask the help of people better able to do the actual hacking*.
Once the bytes offsets are discovered I can automate this process (you will have a menu and you will choose a scenario file to hack) at the click of a button. It is nothing special, it is the same process by which I can edit the bitmaps. I have already tried this as proof of principle (albeit with a FW scn) to give barbarians democracy, as per recent postings.
However, all this will not be until release 2!

*PS Allard, this means you!

Is the screenshot from a real, working version or just a mock up? Just curious. Keep up the good work. Now, back to my dimly lit computer to work on my scenario.

AWESOME!!!

Now I can finally make some decent scenarios for ToT without spending 600 hours to do it...

Very, very, very nice! Miner, you will cause many, I hope, to make scenarios in ToT. I may make one or two for ToT as well in the near future.

Sensible question. It is real, I can assure you! However this screen is not yet complete and this is only the first screen. There is a lot of work yet to do.

My main reason for making this post was basically to say: DONT GIVE UP ON ToT!
I must stop working on this for a month or so but I will be back to it and it will get released, so hang in there.

I think I'll switch to ToT for scenarios when I figure out how to make them work (I have the patch and they still won't function. Argh.) So in the meantime, its FW for now.
