Hive Homeland planning report
The projects we currently have underway.

* Broached idea of PEG with the pirates, awaiting their response.
* Base layout has been proposed by Jamski & Kody

* CN build timed for turn 2142
* Bdrone formulas calculated and Bdrone shifting is a method to wage war against our enemies' economies. University Base is a known target.
* Rebuild of bases Vevtopia, Kommuniza City, The Hive, and Jamski Clove
* Golden age population booming to generate specialist science cities. Rokossovky and Central Planning are the only ones that are being planned for now. Hoping to make Michanapolis and Utopia base into a specialist science city too.
* Number of bases built in upcoming years may be slightly restricted to ensure golden age population booming is still possible in the cities that we have tagged as science cities.
* Two probe ships being built in turn 2143. Probe ship in Static University will be sent to the drones as we did not have the EC resources to build it.
The second probe ship will be sent towards Alexandria (59,73), a pirate city we have the coordinates of. The intent is to find a pirate city and infiltrate their datalinks early while they still do not have adequate probe defences.
* Static University will build a transport foil to transport a speed probe or two to the university to give the Hive infiltration as well, also maybe a tech too.
* Proposed plan for raising land to our north and creating an inland sea that we can share with the drones.

I'm currently concerned about how the hive can continue to play the builder game. We know that war will likely break out as soon as we get air power. However, that is just one war and to mantain our strength we must continue to build our economy after the attack is either successful or unsuccessful.

I have suggested one course of action with the frontier base building, however I know that the first idea is often not the best so I want to hear more ideas.

ICS factions often fall behind in the later game as big cities become more productive. Will this be a problem for the Hive? If not why, and how are we going to build up our economy so that is not a problem? If it is a problem what can we do to offset it?

Remember that I'm still very much a newbie and I'm learning or coming up with the strategies as they start becoming important for this game. For me to learn them well it means obtaining information from those with experience. Even crazy or unorthadox ideas are good as sometimes they are useful for certain situations.

We have come this far playing with builder... and from what I am reading it is rewarding us. My personal suggestion though would be to take a more mixed approach to development after the introduction of air power. Our concern needs to be Defence AND Industry and both will come to play significant roles in the modern global village (as opposed to early game where either Defence OR Industry is important).

As for the strategies... don't worry 'bout it. You are doing great and we will nerve staple you if you screw up.

As for the issue of air power itself... it really depends on what the mood of the people is. One option, that will lead us to quick victory (and I am not sure if this has already passed, but..) is to get it first and exploit this ability by using it to launch a massive assualt on our enemies. The other option is to remain more along the lines of a builder and keep to ourselves, using as a detterant/defence.

I think the problem is :

If we stay as pure builder, the other factions will overtake us. We need to use our mineral and support advantage to "double our base numbers" by taking someone down. The Hive can't REALLY compete as a pure builder once energy gets more important than minerals.

We might be able to if we use lots and lots of trawlers and keep the other factions from building them. Okay I guess nobody has any new ideas on this.

Yeah, you'd think that with our industry we could build more trawlers and get an advantage... but the factions running FM will get +1ec per trawler more than us, so they still come out on top.
