Arise, ye slumbering masses
You know, given that there's 1.3Bn Chinese out there, and about 1/8 of them play strategy games, it's a shame that there aren't more China scenarios out there. So, I would like to do two things: First, get some feedback on whether all of you out there would be interested, and second, put together a group of like minded people who could contribute a little time over a few weeks or months. As a Scenario designer, I am not so great, but I speak excellent English and I know a little about China's history including the exciting bits. So, anyone that's interested, let me know at daipeter@aol.com, and anyone who has an opinion please post a reply.

I'm thinking of making one of these after I'm done with the scenario I'm working on right now, but I'll expect that to take a couple more weeks.

I'm thinking of either the Three Kingdoms (late period) or the Ming Dynasty. Either way, I'll expect to do a lot of reading.

I would like to see a scenario based around the time of the Kingdom of Wu, entitled "The Art of War" or "The Age of Sun Tzu".

Running from around 500 B.C. to 100 B.C..

If you're interested in this project, contact me at warvoid@aol.com and i'll be glad to help.

"The Art of War" scenario could be dedicated to the "Art of War."

I've long pondered the idea of a after the Revolution where Mao has to build up the infrastructure, economy, military, and all that. It wouldn't take many new units or anything, but wonders and such would have to be thought about.

A senario dealing with the Chinese Civil war would be interesting.

Yup, that's why I'm a bloody Limey

Actually, I'm a university student on a Chinese degree, so I've sort of got a link to the place. I just got back from a spell in Beijing, before which I was known to these forums (not very well-known, mind you) as Qinglong.

I think the post-revolution one has promise.

"That why you're a bloody limey" says Mao the yank

I think a scenario about the mongols invasion of China would be good, rather like Harlan Thompsans Mongol scenarion but from the point of view of the Sung dyansty.

hope my reply doesnt get posted 3 times

Damn! I hoped no-one would notice that the 'send' button got stuck Still, worse things happen at sea, I suppose.
I'm starting research now for the scenario proposed by Warvoid, dealing with the campaigns of Sun Tzu. It will be based in China quite a while B.C, and the ideas that are proposed so far are: 1) advances being gained as a result of military victories - killing (battle) units or taking cities, and historical-style battles using the system that Jesus Balsinde did in Defense of Madrid - dropping a lot of nice-looking units all in a special are and have them fight it out. I'm looking for ideas for units now - I've noticed a bit of a lack of good 'Chinese' style units out there. Harlan Thompson's Mongols scenario is 1st class, of course, and there's an italian one set a couple of hundred years later, but apart from that I can't think of any. I'll try and design at least SOME of my own units, but that might take a while.... so any suggestions are welcome. If anyone has any other ideas regarding this scenario, please drop me a line.

Are you sure? Even if most of the population is in the cities that figure is rather hard to believe.

St. Leo - you're absolutely right, I'm exaggerating. I should have said 100% of males living in Beijing aged between 12-25 and with an income above US$60/month. Mind you, there's a LOT of them

That'll teach me to be careless.

Then, you're still forgetting those that live in other decadent Chinese cities and those overseas. A couple million perhaps, dunno how many play CIv2 though.
