Brave New World
As I'm reading the book (Brave New World) for school right now I notived that the story itself may well be able to be turned into a good scenario.

What I am wondering if there already are any scenarios about it and where I might be able to find them.
Also any websites about it would be nice if there are any.

Oh, and don't worry! This will have no effect on the work of my viking scenario. That will always come first.
I just want to gather a few ideas.

Fiera - The book is by Aldous Huxley and describes a future world where everything is determined from birth, there are no relationships in terms of marriage although sex is free and copious, and some humans who are born rather than produced via weird genetic control stuff live out in the wilds. Pretty prophetic for the 1920's.

Hendrik - Great idea, but I can't see how it could make a scenario - the savages are so very far behind the 'fordships'. Also, how would you determine Alphas, Gammas, etc. Good potential for improvements though - perhaps "The original Ford Factory" as Cure for cancer?
Seriously, who could be there fighting? Only 2 sides if I remember, unless there is some sort of Gamma revolt.
Good luck!

I'm sure Hendrik will give you a 1,000 word overview, but as I recall its focus is on how original thought has been drained from society, it has broken into a very apparent class system, and it is intolerant of creativity and novelty. An outsider (primitive man) is brought into the society, and struggles to conform.

I suppose Hendrik sees possibilities of the 'alpha' class (the social group charged with more complex tasks) going to war with the 'epsilon' class (the grunts)? Maybe the alphas have a better government form and more tech, while the other classes are more numerous but technologically less advanced?

[Grr - beaten again! See Wang's post above for a good view.]

...or perhaps Iceland is trying to get to Alpha Centauri (or at least Mars).

Thanks, Wangshibo and Cam

Then I think the scenario could focus on a local rebellion, so it would rather be a tactical overview than a strategical one... Hmm, just a thought, anyway, I haven't even read the book!

Actually, they didn't teach me any literature on my English lessons...

But I'll manage to get the book and read it. It's a nice idea making a scenarios off a book... I think The Clockwork Orange might work as a Civ2 scn too...

Aren't Epsilons too stupid to revolt?

Fiera - I'm disappointed... What did you do during your english lessons?

Actually I was thinking about using 3 (maybe 4) sides.
One would obviously be the World State with its 2000 million inhabitants and 10 zones of government.

Then the savages which could revolt or something.

But mainly I was thinking of a rebellion of those alphas who have been sent to either Iceland or Tiera del Fuego because they are not as intended. They might then help the savages, as one idea.

Perhaps a general deteriation of the system could also lead to revolts of the epsilons in the Fordistic parts of the world.

Good idea: The fords can't keep the rebellion of deported alphas under control thus the system starts to break down and it's no longer able to control the stupid masses.

Oh, and that 1,000 words overview will have to wait till I have finished reading the entire book...
I might have to write one anyways.

Perhaps a flaw in the conditioning process makes them just bright enough to know how to cause problems.

I wonder where I could find some ideas for units...
