Agreed. 2001 has my favourite film music of all time, but it isn't an original score.
I have almost all the 2001 music on individual CDs (yes even the Ligeti stuff - I searched for years to find the Ligeti Requiem).

Horner and Williams both have great scores. Star Trek: Motion Picture had some good music as well.

For me, it would have to be Dil se and Taal (hindi movies), however, I love the music from Stargate SG1, and anything done by Vangelis (1492, blade runner etc etc)
