Beginner Online
I originally intended to play through MSN who gave simple instructions for the humble beginner like myself unfortunately they seem have dropped support for the game now I've finally got myself an ISP. So is there anyone who can take me step by step or post me some instructions (or point me in the right direction of some) so that I can actually get into a straightforward game of CIV II. I've got some pretty high scores at Emperor level against the AI but I reckon that doesn't count for much here.....

go to the MP forum. Lots of people to play there that will more than willing to step you through it.

*sigh* I assume from your time listing that you're in Europe.

I wonder if the flag may be a bit of a give-away as well

While you're waiting to find an on-line game, you could join the democracy game or one of the succession games.

Many newbies don't set their time zone correct at all, so it's not the best clue, if the time is GMT and his title is Settler. Anything else is most likely the correct local time for the user.

But when they select a flag, it's more likely that they've also selected their time. If there was no flag, I would agree with you. (and as pointed out the flag selected............)

Okay you guys I may not be able to quote Klausewitz, Bismarck or any of those historical suckers (though like Groucho I'm beginning to have doubts about a club which would have me as a member) but in the words of the Cowardly Lion 'Put 'em Up, put 'em up' and point me in the direction of a proper game none of this democracy or diplomacy stuff......

That's because you can't properly compete in straight war games.

j/k different strokes for different folks.

We do have considerable interaction. But I will admit a lot of it is "TAKE THAT"
