Captain Nemo's Second Front
I am starting this new post because there are some important questions about Nemo's new scenario "Second Front" that are not being answered by many people. I attribute this to the fact (for me at least), that the original post (with its many screenshots) takes a longggg time to load on my computer (maybe other people are experiencing the same thing?).

Captain Nemo asked if people want both a FW and a Multiplayer Gold Edition of Second front. Currently, it is being made for FW. If he gets enough requests, he will make it for the MGE as well.

This scenario is shaping up to be quite a game! I for one would LOVE TO HAVE SECOND FRONT MADE FOR MGE.

Come on people - speak up! A heck of a lot of time and effort is going into this scenario - I would love to be able to play it How about you?

I´ve understand that Nemo is working on two versions, one for FW, the other for MGE? That would be the best solution, because many people I know haven´t MGE...

Hey... I thought he was all done with the FW version and is now just pondering if he should make a MGE version and release it at the same time as the FW one? I personally hope he releases the FW version before he makes a MGE version, but it's easy for me to say that.

I was told that you can't buy just FW anymore...

That would be the reason to have the MGE version. If you can get it still, I'd buy it in a second!

ST Leo:

Since Second Front is primarily being made for FW, I understand that it contains some files or events that won't work with the MGE.

Nemo wanted to know if enough people who own the MGE want to play Second Front, then he'll do a version for the MGE as well...

So... I'd say there has to be at least 2 or maybe even 3 people who own the MGE... right?

I replied to the previous thread but I'll reply to this one too. I only have MGE not FW so I would obviously love there to be an MGE version.

Please Captain Nemo, make the MGE version. I don't have access to FW.

Hmm... it would be interesting to note that Captain Nemo hasn't responded to this thread yet, and that IIRC FW scenarios should run without a glitch under MPG, considering that MPG is an improved Civ with FW and CiC already installed...

I will respond:
The FW version is not quite finished yet. The extra work for the MPG version would not be much.

So I am planning to make both versions. It is not a tremendous amount of work, but there needs to be two separate versions because it is a "Hotseat" game. The human player must have control of two Civs (Land forces and Air Force) to make the game work.

In FW this was done by editing the saved game to make both Civs Human controlled. The game plays like a normal Civ game, but both Human Civs come up for play. The scenario is started by loading a saved game. Between parts the game is saved as a .sav file

In MPG, that does not work. The game must loaded as a Hotseat game (.hot) and saved between parts as a .hot file. In MPG one playability issue is that the human player does not see the AI moves (If someone knows how to fix that I would love to know) so the FW version will be better in that regard.

Captain Nemo:

Thanks for responding AND for deciding to make SF for both FW and MGE. I can appreciate the amount of time and trouble that must be involved in making this scenario. We all truly appreciate the effort

As far as not seeing the AI moves in the MGE version of the game, I don't see that as a real problem. IMHO, this will make the game far more strategic and difficult to play. Not knowing what the AI is doing should make the scenario more exciting to play; you will never know what the AI is up to

Also, during the real Battle of Normandy, the Germans were able to fall back, maneuver, and counterattack, often without the Allies being aware of it, even though they had complete air supremacy! So this will also make it more historical...

Thanks again, Captain Nemo - we'll be looking forward to this great scenario!
