The Point System
At Broken Memories, site users may accumulate points based on their
level of participation and their skill at obtaining spoilers.
Current leaders in all categories, including points accumulated, are
shown on the Leader Boards.
Points are awarded as follows:
| 1 | for creating an already-spoiled topic (some restrictions apply) |
| 0 | for spoiling a topic you were the creator of, within the
first 24 hours. |
| 1 | spoiling a topic in the bottom 35% of all unspoiled topics
in time unspoiled |
| 2 | spoiling a topic in the 35-65th percentile among all unspoiled topics
in time unspoiled |
| 5 | spoiling a topic in the 65-90th percentile among all unspoiled topics
in time unspoiled |
| 10 | spoiling a topic in the top 10% of all unspoiled topics
in time unspoiled |
| 1 | for every 50 posts in the forums |
| 1 | for every 20 spoiler votes or List of Incorruptible nominations |
| 1 | for every spoiler beyond the first posted in a topic (some restrictions apply) |
| 10 | for every created topic that reaches the List of Incorruptibles (more information) |
| (other) | modest point boosts may be given for making funny,
insightful or helpful posts; however, I do not dole out points very often,
so don't count on it. |
DO NOT spam or post bad spoilers; spam topics/posts will be deleted, and may
result in severe disciplinary action, yadda yadda yadda. DO NOT post inline
porn to the forums.
Only logged-in, registered users accumulate points or are awarded medals.
The Medal System
Around here, we are proud to show off our battle scars, and the trophies
of our struggles. Medals may be given
to users to commemorate milestone achievements. These medals will appear
in the user's information page and by the user's name on their forum posts.
Information on each medal can be conveniently obtained by clicking on its icon in
the post/info page.
Some of the Medals which may be awarded to a user are shown and described
below, in order of precedence, highest to lowest. There are more than
those described here.

Eternal Order of Broken Memories
Awarded to individuals who make a significant contribution to the growth or enrichment
of the Broken Memories website.
May be awarded due to nominations by site users.

Sun of Purity
Awarded to posters who have had five or more submitted topics appear at any time on
the List of Incorruptibles.
|
|
Purple Orb of Obscurity
Awarded personally by the sitemaster, to individuals who show an uncanny
ability to spoil the most obscure of topics.
May be awarded due to nominations by site users.

|
Medal of Leadership
Automatically awarded to posters who have been in the top three in any leader categories (points, posts,
topics started, spoilers, topics spoiled first) beyond small thresholds (200 minimum posts, or 150 minimum points, or 100 minimum topics,
or 100 minimum spoilers/topics spoiled first.)

|
Strong Stomach Ribbon of Courage
Awarded automatically to users after their 100th spoiler.
|
|
Philosopher's Ribbon
Awarded personally by the sitemaster, to the posters of the wisest, most thought-provoking, or most informative posts.
May be awarded due to nominations by site users.

|
Citizen's Medal of Hilarity
Awarded personally by the sitemaster, to the posters of the funniest or most entertaining posts.
May be awarded due to nominations by site users.

|
Broken Gold Star
Awarded automatically to users after their 1,000th post.
|
|
Broken Silver Star
Awarded automatically to users after their 500th post.
|
|
Broken Bronze Star
Awarded automatically to users after their 100th post.
(Note that only one Star may be worn at a time.)
